The 50-year anniversary of such an important lamp for Martinelli Luce as the Cobra designed by its founder Elio Martinelli certainly represents an important event for the company. For the occasion, a special version of the Cobra is produced, an interpretation by Emiliana Martinelli as a tribute to her father. The lamp comes in the exclusive night-blue color and is characterized by a series of holes on the cap representing the constellation of Scorpius, Elio’s zodiac sign.
The lower body part turns on a steel made base connected with the upper body part by means of a central joint for a 360° rotation. The interior reflector/diffuser is white methacrylate opal.
Designed by Elio Martinelli in 1968, Cobra is one of the first lighting fixtures produced with a special resin molding system. The lamp is characterized by simple lines and a geometric shape inscribed in a sphere, but, with the rotation of the arm, the reflector takes a position that recalls the head of a cobra ready to shoot.
