There are countless layers on which a light can be perceived. Light, shadow, movement, balance, mechanics – To me a light is more of a sculpture than a piece of furniture.
I use light as a material. It can be formed, guided, utilized. With the shadow as it's counterpart, it can highlight it's surrounding while, at the same time, leave things out. I see myself somewhere between a designer, sculptor and puppeteer. Mechanical movement is a signature element of my work. I want to express my love for mechanical principles by putting an emphasis on the way things work, move or behave. Designing a working principle, creating mechanical joints or orchestrating balancing acts. I am convinced that making people understand a functioning process leads to a conscious interaction with an object.”
